Elyssa Pon aka “DJ China G” is a native of California and has been a long-time resident of San Francisco. In the last 25 years DJ China G has been an international DJ and club promoter in the LGBTQ+ community. She was the co-founder/promoter and DJ of the renowned queer/lesbian party Rebel Girl from 2000-2009 & Cockblock 2016. DJ China G has also been featured in the San Francisco Bay Guardian and SF Weekly magazines for her musical achievements.
She loves her career as a DJ and continues to spin for the Bay Area LGBTQ+ club scene at local venues, currently one of the resident DJs at Jolene's (one of the surviving Lesbian owned bars), The EndUp, The Stud, F8, Beatbox, Calle 11, The Rickshaw Stop, Love and Propaganda, El Rio, The Midway, 111 Minna, The Cafe, Qbar, Beaux, Folsom Street Foundry, Holy Cow, Mars Bar, Starlight Room. Bruno's, White Horse, New Parish & Port Bar (2016-2018) in Oakland, CA, has also traveled to Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle to DJ.
Carolyn Eidson and Kristine Poggioli, co-authors of Walking San Francisco’s 49 Mile Scenic Drive, will be having an author talk in the Recreation Building from 1-2pm
Sistahs of the Drum
We are students and teachers, listeners and communicators, consumers and creators, protectors and nurturers, friends and lovers. We drum from the heart, for the heart, to the heart and with our heart. Absorbing the teachings of West African rhythms, songs and dances, Sistahs of the Drum respectfully represent the essence of our traditional African roots in harmony with our African-American cultural rearing. The resulting sound is from somewhere deep within; playing through us and resonating with you. Current members: Mar Stevens, Sandy Mills, Shawn Nealy-Oparah, La Tanya Carmical, LaFonda Traore, RoseKa Saunders & Mya Cross.
Carly Ozard
Some faves: Magenta in Rocky Horror on Fire Island, Nettie in Carousel, Mother Hare in The Golden Apple, and Killer Queen in We Will Rock You. Carly originated four musical theater roles with the New York Theater Barn, and has co-created multiple solo shows gracing the stages of Feinstein’s at the Nikko, The Stonewall Inn, 54 Below, Crazy Coqs, Act II Stages (PV), Palm Springs, Lincoln Center, The Friars Club, Oasis, Fire Island, and The Academy SF. Carly is a Drag Performer, edm songwriter and singing teacher, specializing in helping opera singers belt.
